Post 10 (04-12): English Language Challenges

 English language challenges

First, I would like to say that my experience in English has been very positive. However, sometimes I get discouraged because I think there is not enough progress, or at least what I think would be expected from a journalist.

Regarding the use of blogs, I like it a lot because he learned new words and he wrote about topics that I can not write formally anywhere else, like the time I had to talk about my pets.

I think that one of the topics that could perhaps be improved would be the spoken evaluations, where they put into practice and with a note what has been learned throughout the class. I feel that journalists at some point in our lives we are going to find a situation that forces us to communicate with the rest of the people, in the case of interviewing someone or in the case of communicating with another colleague.

Generally, the end of the weeks is when I relate more to English, where I see episodes of series or try to talk with my family. In these situations, the language is used to learn and thus be more prepared in a professional future.

In fact, in a moment I remember that the teacher taught us the past grammatical time and just on Saturday of that week I had a party where I met an Australian in a disco and we danced, at that moment I have to apply the knowledge and the taught subject in classes.

I think finally, in the future, in the future, in the future, in globalization.

Post 9 (04-12) Changing the Study Programme

First, I would like to say that I really love my career and if there is a reason why I change from another career (Public administration) to come to journalism, it is because I studied a lot the curriculum that the university had in this case.

I think journalism is a career that demands too much time both professionally and personally. As for the coverage that must be done if you work in the media, journalism takes time to get interviews, write notes and edit audiovisual files.

I think we could change the way of teach in the institute. Maybe, we can write more about our country and study and investigate about importants topics like the migration, the health public or other topics. Speak, read, write and feel the chilean society.

However, I believe that one of the best points that our faculty has is the infrastructure to study and work in a better way. There are many computers ready to write, we have a radio studio where we can develop our skills.

Therefore, the use of technology in this place is very important, because in the world of work the technologies of the world are being updated, where getting editing programs or having recording cameras and photography allow to do a better job.

With regard to teaching methods, I believe that this university is a good example of what we should do as journalists. The rigor is a fundamental element to develop with a high level and standard in the professional field. The evaluations with practical and theoretical works help put into practice the knowledge we are taught and thanks to that we can be intellectually prepared for a world where events abound and as journalists we must be up to the task. The evaluations regarding oral works also believe that they contribute a lot to the student's development.

Post 8 (03-12) An Artist You Love.

Well, I want to say that I really love the world of the arts, but above all, literature.

One of my favorite writers is Pedro Lemebel. Born in San Miguel (my commune: 3) Writer, artist, activist and excellent human being is one of the maximum references to a national level in the genre of the chronicle. Unfortunately, he died in 2015 due to cancer of the larynx.

I met this artist when my uncle lent me a book entitled "Tengo miedo torero" by Lemebel, as she knew that I liked literature and chronicles, I passed it to her and she said "you are going to love her" and so it was, until the day from today.

Specifically, I love the way he writes, his political and social activism, he is a reference in terms of the plastic arts as well, I remember his work "yeguas del apocalipsis"

Consequenlty, I leave you an example of the great work that Lemebel has had, I really love this photography because it unites the social, political and artistic aspects that I contemplated through Lemebel.
I recommend you! please read it and introduce yourself to your world, you will not regret it.

Post 7 (27-11) : Current Issues.

Well, first of all write about the subject that I am passionate about since I started my photography course at the university: migration in Chile.

It is an important issue to take into account the importance that must be had.

I think it is important to address it because by making visible actions that you have commented against migrants in Chile, it may be possible to change the ways in which they live.

From here you can see how you can approve them, where, for example, at work. Or for example to charge abusive leases in their departments. Also, in the matter of the processing of legal papers such as the visa, there are very long lines to achieve the desired document.

I believe that a solution to be able to implement the reform of the policies oriented to the migration, the safe and effective regulation to demonstrate the intention to improve the conditions of life, health, labor, educational, legal, among others.

Migration is a theme that is taken on the national agenda, but sometimes for the worse, the media take advantage of deportations and expulsions and the intention of obtaining readers through the morbidity that generates on the first cover the misfortunes of others.

I hope that please, the government can change this situation and the account of the damage it is doing to miles of people who are only looking for a new opportunity of life, of change, of the future.

Post 6 (13-11) Post Graduate Studies

Postgraduate studies

In the career of journalism, many areas of work are those that can work, however, there is one that I love and passion, is political journalism. That is why, I would like to have a course abroad on political science, to learn about the events abroad and have a good theoretical basis. Specifically on political science, I am interested in issues about probity in the public sector. On these issues, and according to what I have reported, I think that in UK in The London School of Political Sciences, would be good learning schools in this step for journalism and the importance of knowing about politics and the system.

I would like to travel to that country and then have stability, to get a job and then be able to finance the studies. I think that a master's degree continued for two years would be a good option to develop.

It seems to me that journalists and, in general, professionals should have a solid base of learning and theory about what we are doing in our work. For example, in journalism, it is essential that the journalist has management of the subject on the theories of communication and the existing logics in the market.

That's why, I think that these post-university studies would be a great tool to develop correctly as a professional in the area

Post 5 (06-11) - My Future Job

My future job

I would like to have a job that could give me stability in my daily life. I understand that journalism is not to become a millionaire, but I believe that my conscience would be calm if at least I strive to be able to give my best for a correct job to society. That's why my ideal job would be as a reporter or correspondent in some foreign media such as The Washington Post, or others recognized worldwide.

This work I imagine with a heavy workload and with incessant pressures from the editors to the society in general, knowing that this work is somewhat complex at present.

I think journalism is a mix, when you write and write your informative notes, it should be inside an office, but at the time of reporting, this is outdoors. I prefer the second one.

I would like to travel to other countries, to know the reality in the world and thus be able to deliver the information correctly, knowingly.

Currently, I am inclined to political journalism and the importance that this has to exercise a proper job as a journalist, who must be informed about the most important events worldwide. I think that to reach the position of a reporter at an international level, too much effort is required on the street and intellectual.

Post 4 (30-10) My Pet.

My pet: Benita

The topic that today I will talk about to you is very important for me and my family. Maybe It´s a part of my life, no, I´m sure that Benita, is the most important pet in my life.

Benita was my cat for a long, 8 years exactlty. She was the first pet in my home and in my family. I found her in the neighbour´s house when a I was walking on the street of my old house. I remember when I was a child and really want to have a pet.

The principal characterictics of Benita that I remeber are who had many wounds in her body, finally she retrieved when our spontaneus decision was to collect to seal and take it urgently to the vet.

The importance that she has in my life is very authentic, because she was my first pet and the unique that I have always loved. Currently, in my house we have 10 cats (really, no fake) “Gordo”, “Ciserona”, “Tertuliana”, “Raul”, “Tiger” and others, and they are Benita´s descendants. The greatest treasure of my life in my family. We remember each year in the month of may, when she died.

Finally, Benita was the oficial pet of my family when she was baptized like “Benita Lorca”.

Post 3 (23-10) >>> Personal Opinions

Inmigration in Chile

Myths and realities

Currently, the inmigration in our country is a topic difficult to talk with other people chilean. The racism that we live the life daily confuse the human relations.

Historically, the inmigration is like the topic of the human world, where the people needs relocate for different reasons for problems of poverty, crime and degradation of the urban space in their countries. Also, the problems in the economy, the politics, the religion or the different cultures.

The point that I want to highlight is: the governments must respect the human rights of the migration to other country. Really, I can´t understand why the people hate to the inmigrants, they seek a new life without threats, political hardship with a life filled with hope, prosperity and the ability to live, work and raise their families.

Finally, I believe that the person have the power to change the world. If we come together and walk together in one step, we can change the world, we chan change to the chilean society and the political institutions, the laws of exclusion, xenophobia and discriminative attitudes.

I invite you to see the my work about this topic

Post N°2 (16-10) The best concert ever (week 4)

The best concert ever:

It was 5 years ago in Santiago (2nd april 2013) I remember that I could not stay still because the concert was the best presentation that I have seen in my life.

The artist was “The Killers”, my favourite band. I really love this indie group from USA formed in Las Vegas in 2001. The group´s lead is called Brandon Flowers, Dave Keuning (lead guitar), Mark Stoermer (bass) and Ronnie Vanucci (percussion).

The atmosphere during the event was difficult because there were so many people in the explanade of the “Parque O´higgins” because people had to wait under the burning sun. After this, I could enter to the "Movistar Arena" and so began the adventure.

I remember Brandon Flowers with our chilean flag on his back, the members and we were singing and jumping and celebrate the new album (in that period) “Runaways”.

And the other memories that I have remember was the great expectation to see my favourite singer, Brandon Flowers. In that moment, I sang all the songs, like “All these thing that I´ve done” or “Mr. Brightside” or “When you were Young”.

Post 1 (09-10): A COUNTRY I'D LIKE TO VISIT

Greece:

I would like travel to Greece because it’s an interesting topic about the policy in the goverments is the evolution of the democracy, originary of Greece.

Located in southern Europe, Greece has an important population, they are 11 million people according to the statistics given by the Hellenic Statistical Authority in 2011.

Currently, the principal govenmetnt form is the democracy republic, in our country we practice this way. Democracy is a concept originating of Greece and his thinking leaders, I really love the history about them, due to that I would love travel and stay in this country and to find more about the history from Greece.

I would like to travel to know the historical places and architecture to explore like the Acropolis and the Partenon, place in where people like Socrates or Aristoteles think and contemplate.

So, I will save money to travel and know a new country where the architecture, food, culture, art and people, are the adequate reason to took a plane and leave Chile.
