Post 10 (04-12): English Language Challenges

 English language challenges

First, I would like to say that my experience in English has been very positive. However, sometimes I get discouraged because I think there is not enough progress, or at least what I think would be expected from a journalist.

Regarding the use of blogs, I like it a lot because he learned new words and he wrote about topics that I can not write formally anywhere else, like the time I had to talk about my pets.

I think that one of the topics that could perhaps be improved would be the spoken evaluations, where they put into practice and with a note what has been learned throughout the class. I feel that journalists at some point in our lives we are going to find a situation that forces us to communicate with the rest of the people, in the case of interviewing someone or in the case of communicating with another colleague.

Generally, the end of the weeks is when I relate more to English, where I see episodes of series or try to talk with my family. In these situations, the language is used to learn and thus be more prepared in a professional future.

In fact, in a moment I remember that the teacher taught us the past grammatical time and just on Saturday of that week I had a party where I met an Australian in a disco and we danced, at that moment I have to apply the knowledge and the taught subject in classes.

I think finally, in the future, in the future, in the future, in globalization.

Post 9 (04-12) Changing the Study Programme

First, I would like to say that I really love my career and if there is a reason why I change from another career (Public administration) to come to journalism, it is because I studied a lot the curriculum that the university had in this case.

I think journalism is a career that demands too much time both professionally and personally. As for the coverage that must be done if you work in the media, journalism takes time to get interviews, write notes and edit audiovisual files.

I think we could change the way of teach in the institute. Maybe, we can write more about our country and study and investigate about importants topics like the migration, the health public or other topics. Speak, read, write and feel the chilean society.

However, I believe that one of the best points that our faculty has is the infrastructure to study and work in a better way. There are many computers ready to write, we have a radio studio where we can develop our skills.

Therefore, the use of technology in this place is very important, because in the world of work the technologies of the world are being updated, where getting editing programs or having recording cameras and photography allow to do a better job.

With regard to teaching methods, I believe that this university is a good example of what we should do as journalists. The rigor is a fundamental element to develop with a high level and standard in the professional field. The evaluations with practical and theoretical works help put into practice the knowledge we are taught and thanks to that we can be intellectually prepared for a world where events abound and as journalists we must be up to the task. The evaluations regarding oral works also believe that they contribute a lot to the student's development.
